Have you ever struggled to find motivation to exercise, cook, do your taxes or any aspect of life? Has this lack of motivation snow-balled and almost crippled you into doing absolutely nothing – every day? Then I know exactly what you went through (or are still going through right now).

This was exactly what happened to me last year. And it resulted in me doing pretty much nothing for my lovely Cooking With Plants community. I posted no videos, I created no recipes and I really didn’t feel like doing anything. After my relationship of 23 years ended in divorce, I found myself living on my own for the first time in my life. It was a big transition and it took a lot of adjustment in all parts of my life. Cooking for one was strange, the silence was foreign, and I became and expert in procrastination!

But I finally discovered a really simple way to overcome this. And what I did soon led me to putting together my Plant Powered Mastery Course as well as my new cookbook 15 Minute meals. In just 6 months both of these huge projects were done. So what did I do to pull myself out of the procrastination slump? I set the timer on my phone for 15 minutes and told myself to work on a certain task for that time. Sounds simple, right? Well it actually is. Usually the hardest part of doing something is actually starting.

Using this simple method I managed to get house work done quickly, I finally finished my taxes, and I rediscovered my joy for cooking, among many other things! Often that 15 minute start is enough to keep you going. Just reset your timer for another 15 minutes and keep going… or start a new task for 15 minutes. In the scheme of things 15 minutes is not very long, and mentally we can deal with committing to “just 15 minutes”. So give it a try for yourself… and see what amazing thing you can achieve with just 15 minutes!
