  1. Before you start this recipe you will need a large mixing bowl, spoon, one to two baking trays (preferably pizza trays) lined with non stick parchment paper and a tea towel/plastic film, or suitable cover for your mixing bowl whilst the dough is rising. I used a shower cap 🙂
  2. First, mix all the dry ingredients in your large mixing bowl. Using the back of your spoon mix in the water (at room temperature) until you have a moist dough that is pulling away from the edge of the bowl.
  3. Once happy with the dough cover it up and place it in a warm draft free area for approximately 1 hour until the dough has risen.
  4. Once the dough has risen, it’s time to get your oven going at 210C or 420F.
Uncover the dough and separate into two halves with your mixing spoon. Spoon each half onto separate baking trays and spread by hand with slightly wet fingers into the shape of a pizza base.
  5. From here on you have two options:
  6. Option 1: Cook the bases for later use or freezing.
First up decide if you want a thin or thick base. If you want a thicker base let the pizza dough sit on the baking tray for 20 minutes in a warm area prior to baking.
If you want thin bases simply pop them in the oven and cook on both sides for 7-10 minutes until lightly browned. ( Do not overcook them as they will be baked again with your toppings later).
  7. Option 2: Cook the pizzas now!
If you are busy like me, you can opt to top the pizza dough on the tray and then bake for the whole lot for 15-25 minutes.
The resulting pizza will have a slightly more “deep pan” vibe than option 1 which suits me just fine :-).
