Vegan Halloween Recipe – Finger Bread Sticks

This vegan halloween recipe for finger bread sticks is so much fun! Quick and easy to make and a great recipe for kids to make too. In fact, the less perfect the better as they are meant to look like random severed fingers! They are so easy to make and are a great no knead recipe.

I just love the way these look and the attention they grab. If you serve them at a party or take them with you on a picnic or a potluck, both young and old will dig into these. It’s amazing watching adults turn into big kids when these are served (and I am including myself when I say that lol)!

This is one of those vegan halloween recipe that you will be making for years to come because it is so simple, yet so memorable 🙂

Great served with my Black Hummus recipe.

Instructions
Make the Yeast
  1. Mix the instant yeast with the maple syrup in a very small bowl or cup and then add the warm water, then leave for 5 minutes until yeast activates
Create the Dough
  1. Once the yeast mixture is ready, place all of the bread ingredients in a mixing bowl along with the yeast mixture.
  2. Stir the mixture together until it forms a loose dough. It won't take more than a few minutes!
  3. Once the dough starts to lift away from the bowl use your hands to form the dough into a ball
  4. Cover the dough with a tea towel and let it sit from 1-4 hours.
  5. Once the dough has risen to approximately double it's size it's time to make bread sticks. Preheat oven to 200C/400F
  6. Get a baking tray and line it with non stick baking paper
  7. Using a bowl of water to wet your hands, break off small pieces of dough and work them into small finger shapes and place them on the baking tray about a finger width apart until the tray is full.
  8. Now add whole almonds to the tips so they look like fingernails.
  9. When your tray is ready, pop it in the oven for 6 minutes
  10. After 6 minutes pull the fingers out and turn them over before returning to the oven for a further 6 minutes.
  11. Serve with your favorite sides, dips and soups!
